SUPL.026

Sport Utility Platform

Rethink.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, bicycles gained more space in cities—a positive development that made urban environments safer and more sustainable. At the same time, however, the popularity of Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) increased: vehicles originally designed for outdoor activities, adventure, and versatility on unpaved terrain. These cars, intended to navigate anywhere, are now predominantly used in urban areas for status and comfort, where they often pose more of an obstacle than a solution. The modern interpretation of the SUV seems far removed from its original purpose. What might an SUV look like if it were truly suited to today’s urban environment?

Design.

We developed the SUPL.026 platform, a versatile L6 vehicle for urban settings. The design combines a robust chassis with a lightweight, tent-like upper structure, focusing on safety, efficient use of space, and flexibility.

  • Optimized for city use, where responsible speeds rarely exceed 50 km/h, the 350 kg electric platform with a top speed of 45 km/h offers a safe and efficient way to get around.
  • The platform can be easily adapted for various use cases. By swapping out the front module, the building blocks transform the vehicle from a personal to a professional transport solution.
  • The SUPL.026 City Vehicle seats four passengers yet is smaller than a "SMART fortwo car." This compact size allows four of these vehicles to fit into a single standard parking space.
  • The use of yellow foil ensures high visibility with sharp contrast, improving driver safety and enabling a lighter design compared to traditional heavy, rigid panels.
  • The rear of the vehicle features a sliding curtain structure, providing access to the left, rear, and right sides with a single motion. This makes cargo easily accessible in any parking situation.
  • The rear seats can be completely folded down to significantly expand the cargo space. Additionally, a pull-out drawer at the back provides a secure spot for storing valuables.
  • The headlights are integrated into the modular dashboard behind the windshield, ensuring that future innovations can be implemented easily and affordably.
Change.

Real change begins with choosing modes of transport that fit with the city of tomorrow. In an urban setting, bigger isn’t always better; by thinking smaller and more flexibly, we can give space back to cities and their inhabitants. With the Sport Utility Platform, we’re making urban mobility more compact, lighter, and efficient. A redefinition of functionality and comfort on four wheels.
